J.C. Brown iron case, ca. 1850.  An 18.5-inch iron case with a very dark and crusty finish; the color is under there, it just needs a lot of cleaning.  The dial glass is modern, the pendulum glass old, the signed dial was repainted by The Dial House.  The large 8-day, time-and-strike movement only runs briefly and will strike but is missing the gong.  No label, but the movement is signed J.C. Brown Forestville.  $100–$200.
