Seth Thomas/Jerome
30-hour OG, ca. 1850. This clock appears to be a marriage of a Seth Thomas OG case with a Jerome movement and dial. The
mahogany case is 26 inches tall with good veneer all around; both glasses appear to be original with loss to the reverse-painted dial
surround and complete loss of the lower tablet. The unpainted tin dial is in good condition with modest discoloration and proper
but painted hands. The 30-hour time-and-strike brass movement is unsigned but looks like Jerome to me; this clock does not come
with weights but I hung weights and it ran and struck without problem. You can buy weights for $15/pair in Parts. The
label is Seth Thomas Plymouth Hollow. I note the possibility that this is a Jerome case with a replaced backboard from an ST
clock. $50–$100.
