Forestville Mfg. Co. ripple-trim shelf clock, 1842-1849.  An 18-inch shelf clock with flame mahogany veneer and ripple trim around the door, base, and top.  The glasses are old but I believe the tablet is a later replacement; it shows the J.C. Brown house in Bristol CT. The contoured dial holds the original paint and is in relatively good shape, with some discoloration; the hands are incorrect. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is unsigned; it runs for a short while and the strike is very reluctant.  There is no label, but this model was made by FMC and JC Brown.  $50–$150.
