Smith & Goodrich
8-day miniature shelf clock with alarm, 1847-1852. A 12.5-inch shelf clock with mahogany veneer, an old finish and patina. Both glasses are period/original with a well-retained tablet. The dial holds the original paint with some chipping at the screw
holes; the hour hand is likely original, the minute hand a proper modern replacement. The 8-day, time-only movement is unsigned,
is running without problem, and has an alarm adaptation, with the alarm winding in the bottom of the case; it strikes on the iron
bell and was untested. There is an early embossed pendulum bob and a good label, obscured by the alarm and bell. This
is an unusual clock for the 8-day movement. $200–$500.
