Seth Thomas Clock
Co. “Column No. 1” ca. 1863. The Column No. 1 is distinguished by its two columns on each side. The walnut case is 26
inches tall and has been refinished and stained; the columns have been painted to resemble tortoise shell or burl wood. Both
glasses are old but not necessarily original; the tablet is period but has been touched up and rebacked to stabilize the image. The painted dial is metal, again with some touch-up; the hands are correct for this model. The 30-hour time-and-strike brass
movement is signed Seth Thomas, Plymouth Hollow; it is running and striking, driven by two proper wafer weights. There is a
darkened label, also from Plymouth Hollow, indicating that this clock was made before Plymouth Hollow was renamed Thomasville in 1865. $100–$200.
