20.                   $250

S.B. Terry & Co. miniature cottage, 1852-1853.  Terry made and marketed these simple little clocks for just a year before forming his Terryville Manufacturing Company to make his newly patented (1852) torsion spring escapements.  The 10.5-inch pine case is papered on the sides and has mahogany veneer on the door.  The paper shows a grain-painted pattern and has been varnished.  Both glasses are period and possibly original, the milk-glass tablet is in remarkably good condition.  The metal dial is original with the numbering redone.  The hands modern replacements.  The one-day ladder movement is running fine after a few drops of oil to the pivots; there is an embossed pendulum bob and a very good label inside.  AAC sold a similar example last January for $262.  $250–$400.
