E.C. Brewster
& Co. spring-driven shelf clock, 1840–1843. A 20.25-inch case with a beveled-front in rosewood veneer. Both glasses
are old but the putty is newer, and both appear to have been repainted. The heavy metal dial is unusual with a plain, or silvered
center and painted spandrels on a cream/gray background. Both hands are period/original. The 30-hour time-and-strike brass
movement is spring-driven and unsigned, but clearly of Brewster/Kirk origin, with an iron backplate and enclosed springs. It
is running but the fly wheel is missing the fly on the strike, so it strikes with abandon. A good card label inside. $100–$200.
