15.                   $200

Chauncey Jerome flat-column shelf clock, ca. 1840.  This is the large version of a model more often seen as a miniature; this one is 25 inches tall, while the miniatures are 21 inches tall.  I can find only one other sale of this larger model, way back in 2009. The veneer is flame mahogany on the front, with turned corner decorations and flat columns.  The dial glass is original, the frosted tablet period and probably original.  I believe the metal dial has been repainted and decorated; the hands are period and proper.  The 30-hour brass time-and-strike movement is signed ‘Chauncey Jerome Bristol’ and numbered 1000; it will run briefly and will strike, driven by two 30-hour weights.  There is a dark label from Bristol as well.  $200–$400.
