Chauncey Jerome
column & cornice, ca. 1850. The label and movement are labeled New Haven, dating this clock to sometime after 1845. The 26.5-inch case is veneered in rosewood with some nicks and scratches and a veneer repair on the front base. The columns
are grain-painted. The glasses are period and may be original; the tablets are outstanding – “By industry we thrive”. The wood dial is clean and signed, “Chauncey Jerome, New Haven Conn”; the hands are period/original and found on similar examples. The 30-hour weight-driven movement is signed, time-and-strike on a wire gong; it runs only briefly and will need service. There
is a bright label inside. AAC sold a similar example in 2022 for $341. $250–$400.
