Williams, Orton & Preston 30-hour empire shelf clock, 1837-1843.  A 29-inch case with mahogany veneer, two original glasses and a replacement mirror.  There is a crack in the lower right corner of the dial glass.  The finish is clean and old; the original tablet has been retouched extensively.  The wooden dial is clean with interesting period hands.  The 30-hour wooden movement is running but the strike is not regulating properly.  There are two old weights and a period pendulum bob; the label is missing a large piece but the makers are evident.  $150–$300.
