Norris North pillar
& scroll, 1822-1824. A 29.5-inch case with the brass finials. The scrolls have been repaired, the feet and skirt appear
to be original. One finial is on a screw, the other two are on wooden posts. Both glasses are old but may be replacements;
the tablet was repainted by Tom Moberg. The dial is not original to the case and was originally for a standard wooden movement;
the old winding holes have been filled and new holes drilled to fit the Torrington east-west movement. The painting touch up
is not perfect. The hands are period. The 30-hour wooden movement runs for a minute or two and will strike. There
are two 30-hour weights, an old pendulum bob, and a good label inside. When in top condition Norris North pillar & scrolls
sell for $400–$800. $200–$400.
