210. $350
Welch, Spring & Co. “Sinico B”, ca. 1889. A 44-inch black walnut
case with a clean finish. All the carvings are present except for two small pyramidal tips that should be on the bottom front
corners of the base. Their absence is not noticeable. The door glass is original, held in place with the original putty. The metal dial has been repainted; the hands are slight mismatches. The 8-day, time and half-hour strike Verdi movement is running,
a bit weakly, and striking the half-hours on a nickel bell and counting the hours on a cathedral gong. A Welch pendulum and
bob and a label behind plastic on the back. This is one of Welch’s higher-end clocks, evidenced by the two-strike movement and
being labeled “Welch, Spring & Co.”, which was their high-end line of clocks. AAC sold one last summer for $375. $350–$500.
