208.         $450

Ansonia Clock Co. “Queen Mab”, ca. 1904.  A very hard-to-find model in the Ansonia Queens Office Clock series.  The 35.5-inch walnut case has a very old finish with lots of patina and some alligatoring. The glass is old but not necessarily original.  The paper dial with the Ansonia logo is very yellowed; the replacement hands are similar to the originals.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed and running, delicately, and striking on the hours and half-hours on a cathedral gong.  The pendulum stick is a replacement.  There is a label on the back.  This clock sold at Harris Auction in 2014 for $475; it is the only sale on LiveAuctioneers.  Queen Mab is a fairy in Romeo and Juliet, and this may be the only clock in this series that cannot be ascribed to a real queen.  $450-$600.
