173. $200
E. Ingraham & Co. “Ionic”, ca. 1886. This is the later
model with the large calendar dial (10-inch diameter), as compared to a later version with a 5.5-inch calendar dial. The
walnut case is 29 inches long with painted bezels to resemble rosewood; the grain-painting is retained but this clock has a thick
patina. The upper glass is original, the lower glass also likely so. The paper time dial has yellowed and bears the Ingraham
name; the paper calendar dial bears the Ingraham logo but appears to have been replaced. All hands are correct. The 8-day,
time-and-strike movement is signed, running and striking on a wire gong, and the calendar is advancing. There is a good label
inside and a good label on the back of the calendar mechanism. Schmitt Horan sold a very similar example last fall for $250. $200–$400.
