146.           $150

Ansonia Clock Co. marble mantel clock, ca. 1910.  I cannot find this model in Ly’s book Ansonia Clocks & Watches, and the style of the case is different from other Ansonia marble mantel clocks; this may be a marriage of an Ansonia movement with a French marble case.  Nonetheless, it looks great.  The case is 14 inches tall and 14 inches wide; there are no cracks, but the front top corners are chipped, and a small chip is missing from the lower right.  Note the gold incising, the cream marble diamonds across the top and bottom, and the red marble side pieces. The flat dial glass is beveled, there is a large brass sash that is a perfect fit between the case and the two-part porcelain dial, signed and with the Ansonia logo, proper hands, and a visible escapement.  The fit of the dial and sash to the case makes me think this is an Ansonia clock, perhaps from later in Ansonia history (ca. 1920?).   I cannot keep it running, but I think it could be persuaded with some patience.  It strikes the hours and half-hours on a nickel bell.  This clock weighs 44 lbs, so shipping is not a good idea.  $150–$300.
