Ansonia Clock Co. “Denis Papin” figural, ca. 1894.  Denis Papin was a scientist in the late 1600’s best known for inventing the forerunner of the pressure cooker, termed a steam digester; it is shown on his left here.  He is also credited with designing the first steam engine.  He died a pauper in London at the age of 66.  This clock has been refinished nicely, standing 16 inches tall and 19 inches wide.  Note that the base with the frieze has not been refinished.  The 4.5-inch dial is porcelain with fancy brass hands and sits behind a beveled glass; there are some minor chips to the glass on the upper right edge.  The pallets on the visible escapement are steel.  The 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is running without issue and striking on a cathedral gong.  This model sells for $250 or better when in good condition, as found here.  $200–$300.
