129. $400
Ansonia Clock Co. “Fountain”, ca. 1906. A 21.5-inch spelter
case that depicts a young woman drinking from a tall fountain with a face at the top; the case has been repainted to give a slight
verdigris look. The 4-inch flat porcelain dial is like new with proper hands; it sits behind a beveled flat glass in the sash. The signed Ansonia round 8-day, time-and-strike movement is out of plumb and will run only briefly, and I cannot get it to strike. There is a standing cathedral gong but no back door. This is a rare clock; I can find only two sales records, most recently
(2018) for $300 at R.O. Schmitt’s. $400–$600.
