Ansonia Clock Co. “Undine and Gloria”, ca. 1904.  A most sought-after figural, depicting an angelic figure (Gloria) on the base, Undine.  I can’t find a good reference for Gloria, and Ansonia may not have intended her to represent a specific Greek or Roman goddess; Wikipedia associates her with the three Graces, as Aglaea.  Note that Gloria holds a lyre in her left hand and a frond or feather over her head in her right hand, and stands on top of a globe.  Back in the day you could mix and match your figural with the base of your choice, but Gloria is most often seen with Undine; Undine is a water nymph in early European mythology.  Together these two stand 28 inches tall and 17 inches wide; the figure is not firmly attached to the base.  The bronze finish is original and in good condition but needs to be cleaned. I see no missing parts.  There is a beveled flat glass in the bezel and a porcelain dial with the Ansonia logo and proper hands. It is running and striking on a cathedral gong on the hours and half-hours.  The 8-day movement is signed.  $900–$1200.
