99. $250
Welch, Spring & Co. “Lucca”, ca. 1880. A 23-inch case with a polished rosewood veneer finish and three old glasses, the door glass with a gilt border found on many of Welch’s
parlor clocks. The two side finials are correct for this model but both have been broken and repaired; the center finial is
an incorrect replacement. Note that the delicate drop finials are present. The dial may have been repainted long ago,
the hands are appropriate. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed E.N. Welch M.F.G. Co and is running, not strongly,
and striking on the nickel bell. This clock came with a Welch sandwich glass pendulum, as found here; the interior flocking
is worn, there is a partial label on the back. This model typically sells between $250 and $500. $250–$400.
