85.              $400

E.N. Welch Clock Co. ripple-front round gothic (beehive), ca. 1858.  A second example of a J.C. Brown ripple-front beehive with what I believe is an E.N. Welch label. The 19-inch case has a clean finish and good veneer and ripple trim.  Both glasses appear to be original, with the original putty around the dial glass.  The period tablet shows British Coat of Arms, suggesting that this clock may have been exported to Canada. The dial has been repainted, the correct hands are old but not original.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is not signed; it is running and striking as expected.  There is an alarm in the bottom of the case, hooked up but not tested.  The label is extremely dark but under black light I believe I can make out “Brass Clocks | E.N. Welch”.  $400–$600.
