52.             $250

Smith & Goodrich reverse OG miniature shelf clock, 1847-1852.  Somewhere between a traditional OG and a box clock; this was one of several styles this duo used to house their 30-hour fusee movements.  The case is 15 inches tall with a dull finish with some scuffing, likely original.  Both glasses are certainly period and likely original as well, and the reverse painting on both glasses is well preserved.  The dial is new aluminum and has been antiqued, with proper new-old-stock hands.  The brass 30-hour movement is unsigned but clearly Smith & Goodrich issue, with the wooden fusee spools mounted on a cast iron frame below the movement, and the springs behind the spools. It is running and striking.  There is an early embossed pendulum bob; the green label is mostly missing, and the maker’s names are lost.  These clocks are not uncommon, selling from $250-$500.
