Forestville Manufacturing Co. gilt-stenciled 30-hour OG, 1835-1839.  Just a 30-hour OG, but look at the stenciling on this clock!  The 29-inch case is veneered in flame mahogany with gilt stenciling over the entire front of the case, including the door frame.  Both glasses are period/original with the large tablet original as well, with very limited losses.  This clock has been well cared for. The small wooden dial is clean and signed J.C. Brown, Bristol, CT U.S.A.  The 30-hour time-and-strike brass movement is stamped Forestville M.F.G. Co. behind the alarm ring; it will run for a while before petering out and will not strike.  Attention needed. There are two old weights and an alarm that winds separately and is untested.  A very good label on the back wall.  There are no sales records for a Forestville or JC Brown gilt-stenciled OG on LiveAuctioneers nor on the Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide, going back to 1999.  This is a rare clock for JC Brown collectors.  Only here, on Antique American Clocks. $250–$500.
