44.                   $100

F.C. Andrews shelf clock, ca. 1850.  Andrews was a retailer out of New York City from 1846-1853.  This clock contains a signed Chauncey Boardman 8-day fusee movement that he patented with Joseph Wells in 1847 (as stamped on the movement) that placed the spring behind the fusee. The case is a bevel-front with a grain-painted finish, a new dial glass and a well-preserved milk-glass stenciled tablet.  The dial has been repainted and lettered by hand; the hands are period.  The clock is running and striking on an iron bell, and there is a good label inside.  AAC sold this clock in 2022 for $250.  $100–$200.
