38.                   $175

Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Column Large”, ca. 1865.  Perhaps the most common triple decker clock model; 32 inches with rosewood veneer and three period glasses with the original tablets.  Both tablets have been only lightly touched up; the column capitals and plinths have been repainted, as have the columns.  The painted dial is clean, faded, and probably not original; the hands are period and correct. The ST lyre movement is signed Plymouth Hollow; it wants to run but stops after a minute or two.  It will strike on the wire gong.  There are two period weights and a partial label from Thomaston.  The original tablets here make this clock worthy of collection; the case could use a bit of polish.  $175–$250.
