Forestville Mfg. Co. miniature shelf acorn, 1842-1849.  A 19.25-inch-tall case in rosewood veneer with old dial glass and a modern lower glass with an expertly repainted tablet.  The metal dial holds the original paint with slight fading, a few well-done touch-ups, and the J.C. Brown signature at the top.  The hands are original.  The 8-day, time-and-strike double-fusee movement is die-stamped “Forestville M.F.G. Co. | Bristol CT | U.S.A.” and is running and striking on a wire gong without issue.  There is a faded label on the backboard.  AAC sold one like this in practically perfect condition two years ago for $7600.   $3500–$6000.
