Samuel Terry 30-hour column & splat, 1828-1835.  Eli Terry’s brother started out as a harness maker but was slowly drawn into working with Eli on clocks in Plymouth and was soon on his own, moving to Bristol by 1828, where he retired.  This is a 26-inch case with good veneer and original bronzed columns and splat.  It appears this clock had feet; note the inset sides, reminiscent of pillar & scroll clocks.  The dial glass is modern, the tablet period and has been touched up slightly; it is cracked but stable. The tablet is in remarkably good condition and is a real plus here.  The putty on both glasses is newer.  The wooden dial is clean, the hands period.  The 30-hour time-and-strike wood movement will run briefly and will strike; there are two old weights, a large iron bell, and a dark and torn, but legible label.  $100–$200.
