13.                   $175

Silas Hoadley “Franklin Clock” shelf clock, 1813–1830.  This model is almost always found with an alarm, as seen with #12.  The case is 37 inches tall with bronzed columns and splat and good veneer.  The dial glass and middle glass are replacements, the middle tablet a spectacular repaint, but alas, unsigned.  The small bottom glass is original with a well-preserved tablet.  The wood dial has been repainted, the hands are period.  The 30-hour upside-down time-and-strike wooden movement will not run or strike.  There are two old weights and a period pendulum bob, and a very good label.  The most recent sale of a Hoadley upside-down clock without an alarm was at Cottone’s in 2015 for $425.  Upside-down movement clocks without an alarm are uncommon. $175–$300.
