7.                   $250

Solomon Stow pillar & scroll, 1828-1834.  A 30.5-inch case with good veneer; there is a repair to the right scroll and the feet look to be heavier-duty replacements.  The brass urn finials are on screws.  Both glasses are modern with an attractive tablet; the wood dial is too clean not to have been repainted, the hands are period/correct.  The 30-hour time-and-strike wood movement will run briefly and strikes.  Two old weights and a good label inside.  Stow came a bit late to the game and there are not a lot of pillar & scroll clocks by him; I can find only one other example on LiveAuctioneers or the Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide, and it sold in 2008 for $900.  If you’re looking for a good-looking pillar & scroll at a nice price, you just found it.  $250–$400.
