180. $100
New Haven Clock Co. miniature steeple, ca. 1870. A 14.75-inch
steeple veneered in mahogany with an old/original finish and two perfect finials. The dial glass is modern but the tablet is
period, with a decalcomania image of Washington Rock in Green Brook, NJ, said to be a location where George Washington watched the
movement of British troops under General Howe in 1777. The image has been touched up but is in outstanding condition. The flat metal dial was repainted years ago, the hands are period/correct. The 30-hour time-and-strike movement is unsigned
and running and striking, with an alarm hooked up that winds separately. It was not tested. Both movements strike on a
large iron bell. There is a good green label inside. The door has been hot-glued together. $100-$200.
