EN Welch “Round Head”, ca. 1880.  A beautiful 27-inch case veneered in rosewood with grain-painted bezels.  The finish is extraordinary. The dial glass is original, held in place with the original putty, the lower glass is probably also original but has been rebacked. The large brass, 8-day time-and-strike movement is signed EN Welch and is running and striking; there is black felt inside on the back wall.  Unfortunately, there is no label; the only flaw.  $100-$200.
