Seth Thomas “Cottage C”, ca. 1855.  Tran Duy Ly devotes 18 pages to cottage clocks in Seth Thomas Clocks & Movements, Vol. 1, listing 38 clocks.  Thirty-eight different models, with movements A through T.  This is an early model with a Plymouth Hollow-signed movement and label.  The case is 9 inches tall with a rosewood veneer on the base and grain painting on the sides and top.  Both glasses are old, with gold trim framing. The dial has been repainted, the hands are NOS ST hands.  The 30-hour C-type movement is time and alarm; it is running vigorously. The alarm was not tested.  A rare label behind plastic.  $50-$150.
