PW-1. $150
Waterbury Clock Co. “Study”, ca. 1890. This
model is not shown in either of Ly’s two volumes on Waterbury Clocks, even though there are 12 different models shown. The oak
case is 30 inches long with a clean but unpolished finish. The dial glass is modern, the dial paper with the Waterbury logo,
and the hands are correct. There are two twisted brass weights (Waterbury issue), a pendulum stick that has been broken and
repaired, and wooden replacement acorns on the ends of the pull chains. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed and will
strike but not run, as the escapement needs adjustment. Interestingly, several nearly identical examples have sold at recent
auctions, ranging in price from $275 to $425. $150-$400.
