DR-20. $100
Ansonia Clock Co. “Florentine No. 3”, ca. 1886. Known
as a “Plush Clock”, the 13-inch case is covered in velvet with brass trim; some came with a “topper” statue. I believe the red
velvet has been replaced on this one, and the brass trim pieces have lost their finish. There are side handles and fancy metal
feet; the dial glass is beveled and there is a signed two-part porcelain dial with a visible escapement, an upgrade on this model. The 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is signed and running, striking on a cathedral gong. Perhaps not for everyone;
AAC sold a plush clock in 2021 for $100. $100–$200.
