501.                   $136

Black Americana doll and child’s bank, ca. 1860.  A 10.5-inch doll with a nonmetallic head and a cast iron body.  There is a wind-up movement inside, but I don’t know what it does; the legs aren’t flexible, and the arms are stuffed fabric; perhaps it vibrated at one time. It does nothing now and is fully wound.  The clothing is felt, pinned together, and may not be original.  Red shoes. I did not disassemble.  The second item is a child’s coin bank of painted cast iron.  The coin slot is in the back and it is just over 4 inches tall.  The only way to remove the money is to take it apart.  $100-$200.

503.                   $75

MAAR Oldsmobile Car-Watch Automatic, ca. 1950.  A small, chrome, automatic (self-winding) watch for mounting on the steering wheel of automobiles in the early 1950’s.  This was made for Oldsmobile by MAAR, a company in Switzerland, as it says on the dial.  It is about 1.5 inches wide and 3 inches deep, with a plastic dial cover.  It lacks the mounting hardware.  The clock winds with the movement of the steering wheel with a heavy weighted winding mechanism inside, just like in an automatic watch.  This one is running; you set the time by pushing a button on the upper right while turning the dial ring.  These sell for $100 and up on eBay; here is a YouTube video that explains how this works.  $75-$150.

502.                  $25

Nelson H. Brown electromechanical light controller.  The two-part, 24-hour metal dial says “Automatic Lighting Co.” and is mounted to an apparent 8-day lever-spring movement with a “strike” side that counts by fives.  It is not running and is very dirty.  I am not sure everything is there that should be there, and I see no wire connections.  There is a label on the back.  You’re on your own for the rest. $25-$50.
