JM-10.            $50

Chauncey Jerome paper mâché MOP fusee shelf clock, 1845-1855. A 15-inch paper mâché over wood case with gilt decorations, flowers, and mother of pearl (MOP) on the front.  Most of the MOP has been lost.  The signed, painted dial is badly chipped and still chipping, the hands are likely original.  Surprisingly, there is a double-fusee, 8-day, time-and-strike movement inside; it is signed and running robustly, striking on the wire gong. There is a card label on the hinged back door.  Did you know you can buy sheets of MOP at art stores?  This clock could be restored and might be well worth it.  $50-$150.
