JM-9.             $100

New Haven Clock Co. “Imperial”, ca. 1883. An uncommon clock, with just three listed in the Antique Clocks Price Guide and none on LiveAuctioneers.  The case is 32 inches long with very attractive rosewood veneer all around; note the carved “ears” that are shown in the catalog illustration (page 162 of Ly’s book on New Haven clocks) but are not seen on the three examples in the Antique Clocks Price Guide.  The dial glass is modern, the lower glass old; the gilt trim around these glasses has turned to a cream-color.  The dial is original paint, badly flaking in the center, the hands correct.  The 8-day, time-only movement is signed but will only run for 15-20 minutes and will need service.  There is a label on the back.  $300 at Schmitt’s in 2016, $100 in 2018.  $100-$200.
