MS-1.              $150

Boston area production banjo, ca. 1850. A 29-inch grain-painted case, but most of the grain painting has worn off and the fittings are loose.  The throat glass may be period, the dial glass is an old glass replacement, and the tablet is modern glass.  The dial is splotchy and varnished, the minute hand has been adapted poorly to fit the square mount.  The 8-day, time-only movement is unsigned, running without issue, driven by a lead banjo weight, and regulated by a brass bob on a rod.  There is a tin weight shield.  $150-$300.
