MO-19. $50
Seth Thomas “Looking Glass 30-hour Patent Clock, ca. 1830. A
35-inch case with clean mahogany veneer, an old dial glass and original mirror. The half-columns and splat have been repainted,
minus bronze stenciling, and the top right return is missing. The full-length door hinges on the left. The dial is clean
and colorful with proper style hands, although the minute hand is too short. There are some losses to the dial paint at the
right winding port. The 30-hour, time-and-strike wooden movement will strike but runs only for a minute or so, with period weights
and a period pendulum bob. A good label inside, and a letter describing the provenance of this clock. “Hang down your
head, Tom Dooley.” $50-$150.
