MO-1. $100
American Clock Co. “Arbor” iron-front, ca. 1860. A popular iron-front clock from the Otis Foundry, patented in 1857, as noted on the back of the 17.5-inch casting. Although
faded, the colors are still present on the flowers and leaves, along with two pieces of MOP below the dial. The paper dial is
worn, the minute hand an improper replacement; the glass is replaced. The lower bezel is not securely attached to the case. A little brass polish to both bezels would brighten this clock up. The 30-hour time-and-strike movement is unsigned; it is running
and striking on the large iron bell. There is an alarm attached that was not tested. Note the winding port in the casting,
lower left. The inside label has a surprising typographical error, with “American” spelled without the ‘c’. The ACC operated
out of New York as a marketer for Connecticut clockmaking companies from 1850-1879. $100-$200.
