Antique American Clocks January 2022
Wm. Gilbert Clock Co. “Pendant”, ca. 1875. A 34-inch walnut case with lots of patina. The four finials are correct, the door glass is old/original, with a crack in the lower left corner. The glossy paper dial is quite worn, the hands are correct. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed and running, striking on a brass bell. The pendulum is quite dirty and needs a serious cleaning; it is as shown in the catalog illustration (Ly, Gilbert Clocks, page 131). Schmidt’s Antiques sold one last spring for $450. $150-$300.
