Antique American Clocks January 2022
Clarke, Gilbert & Co. 30-hour OG, ca. 1845. A 26-inch OG with mahogany veneer and poor finish, with spotting on the front and sides. Both glasses are original, and the tablet is likely a Fenn design and is in excellent condition. The contoured metal dial is yellowed with some chipping; the hands are likely original. The 30-hour time-and-strike brass movement is stamped Clarke, Gilbert & Co., Winchester Conn; it is running and striking, driven by two old weights. There is a very good label inside. Clocks by this company are not common, with only a few examples out there. $100-$200.
