Antique American Clocks January 2022
Self Winding Clock Co. Inc “Naval Observatory clock”, ca. 1940? A 59.5-inch modern-style oak case with some soiling but no wear. The glasses are modern. The clean and bright metal dial is marked “Naval Observatory Time” and the location appears to be blacked out. The battery-operated Style F movement is signed and the serial number matches that at the top of the case. It was not tested because, as Dr. McCoy would say, “Dammit Jim, I’m a scientist not an electrician!”. Two instruction labels at the bottom. This model is not shown in Ly’s American Clocks, Vol. 2. $500-$1000.
