Antique American Clocks January 2022
Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 1” ca. 1874. An early No. 1 in less than perfect condition. The rosewood veneer has probably been redone on the bezel and oddly, the left and right sides of the bezel have been trimmed flat; the base is a less-than-perfect replacement. Both glasses are old and the tablet original, but with many losses. The gilded trim around the tablet also shows its age. The dial is a newer replacement in good shape, the hands are ST hands but not original to the clock. The 8-day, time-only movement is a modern replacement and unsigned; it runs for only a few minutes. An old ST weight and a modern pendulum and bob. No label. $250-$500.
