Antique American Clocks January 2022
265. $200
Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. “No. 10 New Farmer”, 1880-1917. This is the third example of this model
in this auction, along with #217 and #219. This one lacks the carved top and molded side returns and does not appear ever to
have had them. That seems unlikely. The walnut case has an old and slightly crinkled finish, including on the cornice,
and there are no marks from a missing crest. Both glasses are period/original, the dials have new paper over metal, and have
been antiqued. The time hands are correct, the calendar hand is missing its tail. Calendar hands can be purchased fromTimeSavers. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement was made by Welch for ICCC; it is running and striking as required. Note
the nickel pendulum bob with original hanger. The calendar is advancing, with good roller papers. No label. While
the finish is a bit rough, this is a nice example, lacking the crest. $200-$300.
