Antique American Clocks January 2022
254. $100
George Marsh column & cornice, 1828-1831. Marsh was actually in partnership with William Gilbert
at this time in Bristol CT. This 28-inch case is largely untouched, with gritty half-columns and a dark splat. The dial
glass is original, the lower glass has a picture behind a wood panel and may have been a mirror at one time. The wooden dial
is worn with loss of numbering, the hands are likely original. The 30-hour time-and-strike wooden movement appears to have ivory
bushings, as claimed on the label; it is running and striking without issue. A very good label inside; two old weights and an
old, embossed pendulum bob. $100-250.
