231.     $400

Brewster Manufacturing Co. miniature Empire, 1852-1854.  The label is an overpaste on a Brewster & Ingrahams label, the company that preceded BMCo.  The movement is also “Brewster & Ingrahams”.  The 20.5-inch case is veneered in mahogany with no flaws that I see; the columns retain the original marbleized painting and gilded caps and feet. All three glasses are original with the original tablets; the bottom tablet has significant loss where the pendulum has rubbed against the glass.  The signed 8-day, time-and-strike ribbed movement may run with some attention, right now it is having some difficulty getting started.  It does strike on a wire gong.  There is most of a label inside.  These miniatures used to be highly prized, and still should be.  They are attractive, run 8 days, and don’t take up much space.  I’m sure you can find a place for it!  AAC sold a near identical example last summer for $452.  $400-$500.
