Antique American Clocks January 2022
219. $300
Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. “No. 10 New Farmer” shelf clock, 1880-1917. A second example (with
#217) of this popular model; this one is also in walnut with a glossy finish. The carved crest is a modern replacement, well
done and well-matched to the case. Both glasses are old; the new dials are painted on new zinc plates. The hands are correct,
the 8-day, time-and-strike movement is by Welch and is running and striking on a cathedral gong. The pendulum is the proper
length but should be nickel, not brass. The calendar movement is not working properly and needs an adjustment to the weekday
roller. The roller papers are relatively new. There is an instruction label on the back behind plastic. This is
an attractive example. $300-$500.
