212.     $100

New Haven Clock Co. “Elbe”, ca. 1883.  A 24-inch walnut case with a very dark finish, clean and polished, but many coats of varnish are present.  The door glass is period, the pained metal dial in the nickel sash is likely original.  The hands may be replacements.  The unsigned movement includes an alarm – note the three winding arbors on the dial.  It is running and striking on the nickel bell, the alarm was not tested.  The pendulum bob is not the Elbe patent dial pendulum ball shown in the catalog description (page 315 of Ly’s book, New Haven Clocks & Watches).  There is a label on the back of the case.  An uncommon model.  $100-$200.
