184.    $50

Litchfield Manufacturing Co. paper mâché shelf clock, 1850-1854.  An 11-inch wooden case with paper mâché, gilt decorations, and mother of pearl on the front, all in very good condition.  The bezel opens with a push-button on the side, the glass is old, dial repainted, the hands acceptable.  The 30-hour time-and-strike movement is unsigned and not working, and a gear has come loose on the strike side.  It will need repair.  R.O. Schmitt suggested that the movement is not correct for this clock when it sold at auction in 2014; Litchfield generally used lever movements in their clocks unless they were making the cases for another manufacturer.  There is a tattered label on the back behind plastic.  $50-$100.
