166.    $400

Waterbury Clock Co. “Study No. 10”, ca. 1893.  This clock is unusual for the bell strike on top. The strike is very gentle, more like a “ding”.  The oak case is 26 inches long with an old, clean finish.  The door glass is old, the dial repainted and renumbered, not quite perfectly.  The hands are original.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed and running, although the strike is erratic.  There is a Waterbury pendulum bob and two plain Waterbury weights, as shown in the catalog illustration (page 229 of Ly’s Waterbury Clocks & Watches, Vol. 1), and the chains have wooden acorns on the ends.  There is an operating instructions label on the back behind plastic.  No recent sales; this model sold for $425 in 2013 and $550 in 2012 at RO Schmitt’s.  $250-$500.
